SAFETY GUIDELINES

Best practices for extinguishing a candle safely?

Should not: with water

Should: a snuffer; use candle lids. You can gently blow on the flame to extinguish the candle. However, be careful to avoid splashing the melted wax.

What is the recommended burning time for decorative candles?

We recommend burning for up to four hours at each lighting to receive the most efficient and safe use of your jar candles. Allow the candle to cool, trim the wick to ¼” and relight.
Discontinue burning when 1/2″ of unmelted wax remains to avoid container breakage.

Ways to guarantee the best performance of your candles

WICK TRIMMING

Trim, Trim, Trim your soy candle! Ensure your wicks are always trimmed! Long wicks can release unburned carbon particles (soot) into the air as visible smoke wisps. To prevent this, trim the wick to ¼ inch before each use. This regulates the wax drawn through the wick for optimal combustion, prolonging your candle's burn time.

CANDLE SAFETY

Burn your candles with safety in mind! Always keep a close eye on a burning candle. Never leave a candle burning unattended, especially while sleeping or when leaving your home. Ensure candles are placed out of reach of children and pets

WHERE TO BURN

The placement of your candle matters! Air currents can disrupt the teardrop shape of the flame, leading to improper burning and soot. Always place your candle away from drafts, vents, fans, windows, and other sources of air movement to ensure optimal burning.

Burn candle properly the first time

To ensure your candle burns evenly and provides the longest burn time, it's crucial to properly burn it the first time. Here's how:

  • Trim the wick to ¼ inch.
  • Light the candle with a longer match or lighter, avoiding tilting it to the side when lighting.
  • Allow the candle to burn until it forms a full melt pool, where the wax has completely melted to the edge of the container and is 1/8 to ¼ inch deep. This ensures even burning and proper scent dispersion, while preventing tunneling. This typically takes about 1 hour per 1 inch of container diameter (excluding tealights).
  • Do not burn longer than 4 hours. Extinguish and allow to cool.
  • Continuously trim the wick to ¼ inch and ensure no wick trimmings or debris fall into the candle. Remove any debris if it does fall inside.
